Following Stinson LLP’s recent combination with California-based litigation firm Severson & Werson P.C., leading legal industry publications have highlighted the significance of this milestone in the firm’s ongoing national growth.

In The American Lawyer, Stinson Managing Partner Allison Murdock described the combination as "just the perfect world in terms of being able to cement our presence in California, where we could tell our clients we’re not just in one location, we’re now throughout the state, and in a more solid way." She also notes that the combination expands the firm’s depth in banking and financial services litigation, bankruptcy and creditors’ rights work, labor and employment and complex litigation.

Bloomberg Law emphasized the firm’s identity as a truly national player. Murdock told the publication, "We don’t think of ourselves as having a single geographic identity – we’re a national firm with leaders and teams across all of our offices. Whether we’re adding one attorney or many, our goal is to expand our ability to meet our client’s evolving needs."

Mark Wraight, Managing Partner of Severson & Werson, shared similar sentiments from a Severson perspective in an interview with Law360, "We have been in a period of need to acquire and retain really good talent. I’m hoping that with Stinson’s resources, name brand and recognition, everything that they bring will be able to help us grow our practice." He also added, "It was a combination that just made too much sense. Our practices are complementary. Culturally, it’s a great fit."

The Daily Journal spoke with Adam Hutchinson, Irvine office managing partner, who emphasized the benefits for clients. "This combination allows us to offer clients the same exceptional service they've come to expect, now supported by broader resources and complementary practices — particularly in banking, financial services, and complex litigation," Hutchinson said. "By joining Stinson, we will be able to leverage a more robust platform and provide a wider range of capabilities in locations throughout the country, positioning ourselves to meet our clients’ ever-evolving needs."

The broad media coverage affirms Stinson’s thoughtful and client-focused approach to growth – strengthening its capabilities while preserving culture and leadership continuity. It also underscores the firm’s growing footprint in California and nationwide, as it positions itself to meet evolving client needs coast to coast.
