Stinson Receives Community Impact Award from Ability KC for Role in New Downtown Campus

Press Release
10.08.2026

Stinson LLP has been recognized with Ability KC's 2026 Community Impact Award as one of the New Campus Launch Partners, a group of organizations who worked collaboratively to bring the organization's new downtown Kansas City campus to life.

The new campus includes comprehensive rehabilitation care, education, research and innovation in one centralized location. The project is expected to increase Ability KC's capacity by 20% to 30% and create new opportunities for partnerships with researchers, clinicians and product developers. Renovations are expected to begin in 2026, with the campus anticipated to open in 2028.

Stinson served as outside counsel to Ability KC on all aspects of the campus transaction and the Stinson team included Partners Tom Dowling and Karl Phares along with attorney Mark McDermed.

"We've had the privilege of working with Ability KC for many years as the organization explored how to address its space limitations and continue expanding its impact in Kansas City," said Dowling. "We were incredibly excited to help Ability KC reach this milestone and contribute to a project that will allow the organization to further its mission and serve more individuals and families throughout the region."
