Reggie's experience as a federal prosecutor makes him a formidable advocate, offering clients invaluable insight in complex matters.

Overview

Reggie leverages his 17 years of experience as a federal prosecutor investigating complex crimes to provide strategic counsel and effective representation in internal investigations, corporate compliance matters, white collar criminal defense and civil trial litigation. He has significant courtroom experience, including trying over 20 federal criminal cases and arguing numerous appeals before the 8th Circuit Court of Appeals.

Reggie has extensive experience investigating allegations of workplace safety violations, employment discrimination, financial misconduct, regulatory noncompliance and health care fraud. He represents corporations, managers, officials, physicians, and company employees in high-stakes litigation and federal investigations involving alleged OSHA violations, Mine Safety and Health Administration violations, nuclear regulatory incidents, mortgage fraud and drug prescribing practices.

As a federal prosecutor in the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of Missouri, Reggie investigated and prosecuted corporate embezzlement, Ponzi-type schemes, investment fraud, public corruption, and other white collar crimes. Reggie also served as the white collar chief and led the office's Civil Rights Program, serving as lead counsel for major civil rights prosecutions. In his most recent role as executive assistant U.S. attorney, Reggie spearheaded initiatives related to the Department of Justice's Project Safe Neighborhoods as well as heroin and opioid initiatives in the St. Louis area.

Reggie's work as a federal prosecutor has earned him several recognitions, including Trial of the Year in 2015 and 2016 within the U.S. Attorney's Office.

Experience

  • Successfully represented a large independent city in a first of its kind public proceeding that led to the removal of a high-level city executive for official misconduct.
  • Led an internal review for a large university into the handling of protests that occurred on campus, including a review of applicable university policies, actions by campus security, and the response by the administration. Our comprehensive report provided actionable insights to guide future university policy.
  • Represented the target of a multi-year Federal Grand Jury investigation by the Department of Justice Environmental Crimes Section into alleged violations of the Atomic Energy Act related to a radiation contamination event occurring during the manufacture of products used in nuclear medicine. Prosecutors initially described the client as a subject, but then labeled him as a target after further investigation. Reggie's representation included conducting his own investigation, meeting and conferring with prosecutors to convince them that criminal charges were not supported by the evidence, and defending in federal court against the government's attempt to disqualify him from representing the client. After a prolonged investigation, the government declined to bring charges.
