Joe focuses his practice on privacy and data security law, advising clients on compliance with complex domestic and international regulatory frameworks.

Overview

Joe counsels clients on rapidly evolving U.S. privacy laws. His work includes drafting privacy policies and data processing agreements, advising on privacy-related aspects of mergers, financings and change-of-control transactions, and responding to data security incidents.

Joe is also the author of The Rutter Group's California Practice Guide: Privacy Law, which was cited by the California Court of Appeals in a landmark ruling involving the California Privacy Protection Agency's enforcement authority under the California Privacy Rights Act.

In addition to his privacy practice, Joe brings more than 20 years of litigation experience to his work, representing clients through all stages of litigation and trial. He routinely prepares cases for trial as lead counsel, drafts and argues dispositive motions, and handles pre- and post-trial proceedings in courts across California.
